The Technology and Security Division of the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking for keen, motivated Information and Communication Technology students to work in various ABS offices during the summer vacation period, from the end of November 2018 through to early February 2019. The office locations are: Belconnen (ACT), Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart.

The Technology and Security Division is responsible for the provision of a comprehensive Information Technology service to the ABS, encompassing mid-range and small scale computing facilities and associated communications networks. The ABS offers a range of IT career opportunities in Applications Development, Infrastructure Support and Security. You will have:

  • completed a minimum of 2 years of a specific IT degree
  • well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to work effectively in a team
  • sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills
  • an aspiration to be a part of a professional IT team
  • a keen interest and ability in one or more of the following areas:
    • Applications Development
    • Data Communications
    • Systems Administration
    • Database Administration
    • Software Support
    • Infrastructure Support
    • Security
