Cbus is expanding and introducing new capability to its talented mix in the Investment Team, so it is an exciting time to work at Cbus as a Graduate Investment Analyst. This position is a full time fixed term 12 month contractwith possible potential to extend or become permanent in the future. You will provide analytical support within the Investment Team with the opportunity to rotate across the department within Investment Management. You will also have an opportunity to gain exposure and experience across Asset Allocation, Equities, Infrastructure, Responsible Investments, Strategy and Innovation.

The Graduate Investment Analyst will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Providing support to senior members of Investment Management team. Initially within the Asset Allocation team this may include:
    • Preparing and presenting research to the Investment Team;
    • Assist in developing, maintaining and interpreting cart packs, that cover macro-economic and market conditions;
    • Conducting research into macroeconomic and financial market issues that are important to portfolio outcomes;
    • Liaising with both internal and external parties that feed into the Fund's investment process;
    • Monitoring financial markets and assessing risks and opportunities that may exist for the portfolio;
  • Assisting in drafting reports, papers and presentations for various investment forums;
  • Collecting investment and financial data and assisting in the interpretation of this data;
  • Participating in the research and evaluation of new investment managers (and/or ESG service providers) ideas and strategies;
  • Updating, monitoring and modelling portfolio performance and assisting in the preparation of related reports;
  • Other investment related tasks and/or projects as directed by the manager from time to time.

In this entry level position, you will build on the technical skills you have developed during your recent university studies and have a genuine interest in working at a profit-to-member superannuation fund.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work well within teams and independently
  • A high level of comfort working in a membership based organisation
  • Energetic self-starter who applies their individual initiative and "thinks outside the box"
  • Willingness to champion and demonstrate the Cbus values and associated behaviours
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel

You'll need…

  • To be a recent graduate, either completed your degree in 2017 or completing your degree in 2018 in Commerce, Finance or another related discipline at an Australian Tertiary Institution. Post Graduate qualifications would be looked upon favourably, as would enrolment in the CFA Program.
  • A strong interest in investing, the economy and financial market trends is essential, and you will have a willingness to challenge the status quo in a thoughtful and courteous manner.

  • Have completed your university studies at an Australian tertiary University in 2017 or 2018 ready to start full-time employment in early February 2019.
