Our Finance teams are embedded within each Division of our ANZ's businesses to support our Board, shareholders and to work closely with all areas of our organisation to help set the company's business strategy.

Our purpose in Finance is to drive ANZ's financial performance by shaping strategy, allocating resources and ensuring decisions are based on facts. To achieve our purpose, we have established processes and procedures in place to ensure that the service we provide is consistent and scalable.

The ANZ Finance Graduate program is about developing tomorrow's leaders, today. Our 24 month program is designed to grow you into a future leader through hands-on experience alongside a diverse team of Finance experts. You'll receive training, networking opportunities, be supported by your line manager, dedicated mentor and a buddy to give you the chance to contribute profoundly to our organisation.

Our placement areas span across the Enterprise and include rotations in Group & Divisional Finance & Group Treasury teams. Our Group & Divisional Finance teams are structured within 3 distinguished operating models. Finance Interns may spend time in one of the following core disciplines of Finance:

Financial Control
A global community of practice with responsibility for ensuring the provision of accurate and timely financial information to a range of internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring that all statutory and regulatory reporting obligations across the Bank are met is a key accountability of Financial Control. Through Line-of-business controllership we ensure the provision of accurate and timely financial information to the Divisional Finance team and businesses

Financial Planning and Analysis
Our FP&A team deliver planning and forecasting based on business drivers and insightful reporting. The team provide in-depth analysis on our business and identify drivers. Our accountability and productivity is driven through their analysis and insight.

Decision Support
Our Decision Support teams provide strategic insight, proactive financial analysis and advice to businesses they support. They have an in-depth understanding of business performance and provide regular analysis and commentary. They're also involved in developing business units' country specific strategic operating plans and forecasting.

Specialist Services

Is made up of specialist areas like:

  • Group Tax - provides taxation support to all areas of ANZ.
  • Project Accounting - works very closely with projects approved by our Executive Committee in preparation of financials for our projects governance body.
  • Finance Systems - is at the core of providing management and support of all systems used across the finance functions at ANZ

Capabilities you will develop:
The Finance Graduate program is designed to provide you with meaningful work experiences across a broad range of our disciplines through carefully planned rotations. Throughout your time with us, you'll build valuable transferable skills and Finance Capabilities across:

  • Business and Commercial Acumen: supporting business decisions
  • Data and Analytics: generating insights, telling stories through data
  • Technology: Finance systems and automation
  • Process Optimisation: 're-imagining' processes and continuous improvement

Our approach to learning focusses on providing development through a range of different opportunities, including:

  • Education: access to recommended formal training (face to face, online, video based and self-paced)
  • Experience: rotations across our different Finance teams and working on Graduate projects
  • Exposure: meeting senior leaders, working with buddies, project sponsors, coaches and line managers
  • Environment: opportunities to apply what you have learnt, present ideas and participate in a graduate community for development

About You:
We're on the lookout for people with a balance of financial knowledge and life skills. People with excellent analytical skills and a strong understanding of financial data interpretation who can deliver financial solutions for customers and the broader ANZ business. But a great applicant is about more than numbers. We're looking for people who can take their technical knowledge of finance and banking and communicate it to anyone. We're also searching for people who are flexible, friendly and able to adapt in a fast-paced, constantly moving environment.

Students who are studying towards Accounting, Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Business or Commerce, Technology or Computing and Software Systems, Data Science and/or Mathematics and Statistics related degrees may be well suited in Finance. However if you're a student from another discipline and believe Finance is the right fit for you, we are happy to hear from you!

Academic achievement in relevant fields of study is important; however we also look for personal attributes that will help you thrive in our working environment. The nature of our work is always changing, so having people who demonstrate resilience and adaptability are great assets. We love new ideas and external perspectives!
