What does Baker McKenzie's recruitment process involve? Here is a guide with tips to help you get one step closer to your dream job!

1. Online Application

The Seasonal/Summer Clerkship Application comprises: (a) a cover letter; (b) answers to a set of application questions; and (c) your academic transcripts. We do no request a copy of your CV.

Recruiter tip: When applying, remember to tailor your cover letter and answers to our application questions to the organisation and role you are applying for. We don't ask for a CV because we prefer to see the information about your skills, experiences, and achievements expressed in your cover letter and your answers to our application questions.

2. Interviews

There are two rounds of interviews in the Sydney Summer Clerkship selection process. The first interview is with a Senior Lawyer and a Partner. The second interview is with two Partners. There is one interview round for the Melbourne Seasonal Clerkship selection process. The interview is with two Partners or a Partner and Senior Lawyer.

Recruiter tip: The interview process provides you with an opportunity to meet members of our Firm and expand on your strengths, skills, achievements, and experiences. Interviews are also a great opportunity for you to find out more about the Baker McKenzie and ask questions to demonstrate your interest in the role and the Firm. Arrive prepared to expand on details in your application, ask questions about the Firm and the interviewers, and, most importantly, be yourself.

3. Information & Networking Events

Baker McKenzie's Sydney Summer Clerkship Information Evening is held prior to the commencement of second round interviews. It is a panel and networking event designed for you to learn more about the Firm and meet more of our team.

Recruiter tip: Ahead of networking events, spend some time researching the Firm and practice areas that interest you.
