How can I make my application stand out?

A well structured and easy to read CV is your first step. Make sure you include your contact details, and clearly outline your education and any work experience.

Tailor your CV to highlight any key skills or experience that are relevant to the role. If the job advert specifies ‘problem solving’ as an important skill, and you have that skill - make sure you highlight it!

If you are applying for a technical role, include a link to a GitHub profile. It’s a great way to demonstrate your technical skills and passion for tech. This can include both Univeristy and personal projects.

What’s the best way to research Xero?

In addition to researching online, speaking to a Xero employee is a fantastic way to gain insight into the company. It will help you to decide if Xero is a good fit for you, and will be a good talking point throughout the application process.

How can I prepare for the technical assessment?

Xero uses HackerRank for technical assessments. Trying a sample test is a great way of familiarising yourself with the platform and style of questions.

What is an on-demand video interview?

Candidates are asked to record video responses to interview questions in their own time. This enables companies to have a consistent interview experience which puts all candidates on a level playing field.

You should prepare for a video interview in the same way you would for a face-to-face interview. Make sure you can articulate your interest in Xero and the role you have applied for. Using the STAR technique when answering questions will help you provide structured and conise answers.

How can I prepare for an assessment centre?

Xero is a values-driven company. By familiarising yourself with our values, what they mean, and how you’ve embodied them in the past, you’ll be giving yourself a helpful advantage in interviews and group assessments.

Make sure you have a clear understanding of the role, so you’re able to demonstrate your suitability. The grad recruitment team is there to help you, so make sure to ask lots of questions to enable you to feel comfortable prior to the day.
