A varied and rewarding role

Applications are now open for the 2019 program. Your gap year will be broken up into various stages, giving you the opportunity to experience different career streams and Navy bases. You will experience life ashore as well as at sea and be given the opportunity to actively contribute to the operation of ships or Navy bases.

Some of the seamanship skills you may learn include general rigging and rope work, berthing and casting off, anchor work, watch on deck and a range of seamanship evolutions.

Entry Requirements

  • Aged between 18 and 24 as of 15 September 2019
  • Australian citizen at time of enlistment
  • Completion of Year 12 with appropriate passes
