All that plus meaningful experiences such as joining peacekeeping missions and supporting communities in need.
Your role
You're deep in the bush participating in a major exercise. An Abrams battle tank has suffered mechanical failure and its crew are stranded in 'enemy' territory. You and your team are responsible for ensuring it is operational and back in action with the least possible delay.
That could be a typical scenario for you as an Electrical/Mechatronic Engineer in the Army.
Across every operational unit from infantry to armoured and aviation, the Army employs a huge variety of vehicles, equipment and weapon systems. This creates equally diverse career opportunities for electrical and mechatronic engineers.
When you step up to this role you'll be employed in operational environments as an officer in command of as many as 50 technicians and tradespeople. You will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of high-tech military hardware that could include tanks, trucks, artillery weapon systems, armoured personnel carriers, radios, radar and missile systems.
The role will also encompass resource management, and in time you will be given the opportunity to expand into other areas such as design engineering and project engineering.
