Keen to elevate your engineering studies with ‘real world’ experience in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector? ConocoPhillips Australia is now recruiting for eligible engineering students to join the 2019 Engineering Vacation Program. 

ConocoPhillips is the world’s largest independent E&P company based on production and proved reserves. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, ConocoPhillips has operations and activities in 17 countries, $71 billion of total assets, and approximately 11,100 employees as of Sept. 30, 2018.

Our exciting portfolio of Australian assets includes the Australia Pacific LNG Facility in Gladstone, Queensland, the Bayu-Undan field in the Timor Sea, and the Darwin LNG Facility in the Northern Territory. We also have exploration and appraisal projects in northern Australia including the Greater Poseidon and Barossa.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic chemical/process engineering student in their penultimate year (second last year of study before you graduate) to join the ConocoPhillips Australia Engineering Vacation Program in Brisbane.

What we offer

  • Twelve weeks paid work experience with the Brisbane Process Safety Engineering Team
  • Work with experts in the field, including a site visit/s to the Australia Pacific LNG facility  
  • Complete technical work tasks and projects to support your ongoing development

  • Further develop your collaboration, research, problem-solving and presentation skills

About you 

  • Show a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the LNG industry 
  • Be enrolled in one of the following courses: 
    • Penultimate year of Bachelor of Process/Chemical Engineering or 
    • First year of Master of Engineering Science or Master of Professional Engineering
  • Credit course weighted average (minimum 65% and above) 
  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident 
  • Alignment to ConocoPhillips SPIRIT values 
  • Demonstrate initiative, with strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Willingness to learn and improve your professional and technical engineering skills
  • Be available to work in Brisbane from 25 November 2019 to 21st February 2020
