The Treasury Graduate Program offers recent university graduates the opportunity to join Australia's leading economic policy adviser. Our program offers comprehensive training, development and mentorship from skilled professionals, who will work with you to develop your skills, knowledge and confidence. We draw upon a diverse range of expertise and perspectives, using a wide range of information and cutting-edge analysis.

Two one-year placements support cumulative development and on the job experience; formal training also builds on the knowledge gained in the previous placement. The program structure means you contribute to the work of the department from the outset.
Treasury staff and managers are committed to your learning and development, giving guidance, advice and feedback. You will quickly gain a good understanding of how your work fits in with the broader public policy context.

We are looking for graduates with degrees across a range of disciplines, particularly economics, law, business, finance, public policy, political science and mathematics.

As well as academic qualifications, we are looking for graduates with highly developed written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and people skills and individuals that demonstrate initiative, honesty, fairness and respect.

To apply for the Treasury Graduate Program you need to:

  • be an Australian citizen;
  • be willing to relocate to Canberra;
  • be eligible to obtain a valid Australian Government security clearance; and
  • have recently completed, or will complete within 5 years of applying, a minimum of an Australian recognised Bachelor degree.
