About the Downer Graduate Program

The graduate program is a two-year program providing exposure to different areas of the business through four, six months structured rotations. Downer Graduates are a diverse workforce of thought leaders who are supported to deliver on our purpose, promise, and pillars for our customers. Be Your BEST at Downer

  • As part of the Downer Graduate Program, from day one, you will either contribute in a key revenue-generating operational role or contribute to the important functional support services that uphold the business. As a Downer graduate, you will be challenged and supported to achieve your career goals through:
  • Structured quarterly formal development workshops to build your interpersonal and intrapersonal skills;
  • Half yearly national Graduate Business Conference to understand emerging trends, challenges and be exposed to significant leaders, customers and guest speakers;
  • An extensive network of support consisting of a buddy, mentor, and an executive sponsor so that you can be challenged, reflect, and grow;
  • Opportunity to work across a multitude of different business units every six months to gain a better understanding of the diversity of roles, divisional functions, and expedite your experience.

As a Zero Harm Graduate, you will support the Zero Harm team on getting our systems right for how we work, supporting field implementation and building capability to achieve our pillar of Safety. 

To be considered for this opportunity, you must

  • Be a recent graduate (within the past five years) or a penultimate year student graduating in early 2019;
  • Have a diploma or higher qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or safety related disciplines; 
  • Have demonstrated exposure to site environments within a related heavy industry; 
  • Have a university degree with a minimum credit average;
  • Be mobile (able to work and live in any state of Australia);
  • Be tenacious and seeking an opportunity to make a significant contribution;
  • Have the courage to challenge yourself, challenge your surroundings and try new things;
  • Be achievement oriented and outcomes focused.
