GradAustralia GenerationOne Indigenous Scholarship guidelines
Name of Scholarship:
GradAustralia GenerationOne Indigenous Scholarship Program
Purpose of the scholarship:
The scholarship aims to foster the next generation of Indigenous leaders by providing funding assistance to young Indigenous Australians living away from home and attending a residential college whilst undertaking tertiary studies.
The scholarship provides for college accommodation costs and/or general living and study expenses, supporting successful recipients to take full advantage of the community experience and personal and leadership development opportunities provided by university colleges and the scholarship’s partner network.
A full Scholarship normally covers college accommodation costs and/or a stipend to cover expenses associated with studying and living away from home.
The value and number of scholarships each year are determined by the Scholarship Committee (the ‘Committee’) after having regard to all relevant factors including the applicants' personal circumstances. Payment of monies associated with the scholarship will be made in a manner determined by the Scholarship Committee.
The scholarship is open to current Australian students of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent who will be undertaking or continuing tertiary studies in 2018.
Applicants pursuing tertiary studies across all disciplines will be considered. Scholarship selection is made based on a written application (submitted online) and interview/s with the Scholarship Committee. The Committee assess applicants based on personal qualities and leadership potential.
Scholarship holders and alumni will also be offered the opportunity to participate in mentoring and cadetship programs with sponsoring employers in a sector of interest.
Successful applicants are encouraged to consider residence at one of either St Mark's College in Adelaide, Trinity College in Melbourne, St Catherine’s College in Perth, Emmanuel College in Brisbane or St John’s College in Sydney. Non-partner colleges and other accommodation options will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Deadline for online applications is October 30, 2017
