Alcoa is a global industry leader in bauxite, alumina and aluminium products, with a strong portfolio of value-added cast and rolled products and substantial energy assets. Alcoa is built on a foundation of strong values and operating excellence dating back more than 130 years to the world-changing discovery that made aluminium an affordable and vital part of modern life. Since developing the aluminium industry, and throughout our history, our talented Alcoans have followed on with breakthrough innovations and best practices that have led to efficiency, safety, sustainability and stronger communities wherever we operate. This kind of operating excellence takes a special kind of team, made up of special people. One of them could be you.

About the opportunity

Our flagship product aluminium, one of the world's most versatile metals is strong, durable and a 100% recyclable; it drives our people, supports our communities, and fulfills our purpose.

We're always innovating to find new ways to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive world - from protecting our environment, to creating a safer workplace, making our equipment more reliable, to improving our processes and embracing technology wherever we can. At Alcoa, we support our people and empower them to bring their ideas to life as together, we make change happen.

Our Vacation Student program provides university students with the opportunity to explore their degree within our industry and gain exposure to a future career at Alcoa. During your summer 12-week paid placement, you will grow professionally, expand technically, and become part of our community where you will be inspired and challenged daily.

Throughout the program, you will be paired with a senior specialist that will provide you with the hands-on training, mentoring, and coaching to support you in becoming a creative problem solver, helping you towards completing the meaningful projects that you'll be assigned. The best part is that you'll get to experience working in an on-site environment whilst working locally at either of our refineries, enjoying a lifestyle where you can be home each and every night!

We are offering Vacation Student placements in the following disciplines:

  • Process Control Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Civil Engineering

Learn how to view your past experiences as learning opportunities, especially when responding to selection criteria and interview questions. It is really useful to have thought about how the different things you have done have prepared you to handle future situations.
