Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
Our team tends to promote internally rather than hiring from the market. Quality of works is the key to move up.

I am fortunate to be in the position where I have made a role change. It is important to have open conversations with your line manager to express your interest. Aurecon does value internal moves and promotions so that is something to factor in as well.

Promotion is based on performance and we are not locked in to a specific time limit if we have excellent performance. For example I was promoted from graduate to midlevel engineering role within about 1 year after graduating from university because I was performing highly and was not locked into a specific 2 year graduate program. On the other hand if you are performing poorly the company will not necessarily guarantee promoting you into a role with greater responsibility if you are not ready for it.

I was not expecting the promotion this year, but I was given to me. And I am very happy that my manager and lead drafter appreciated my efforts.

Whether you move up the ranks has nothing to do with you, it's more about your team lead

Experience and a desire to learn and gain experience with help move up quickly
Graduate, Perth
Aurecon has a web based structure which means regardless of background being promoted and accelerating your career is possible. It also allows for lateral movement if you desire to try something new.
Midlevel, Brisbane
After the organisation released role cards, it has become a bit more clear as to what is required to move up the ranks. However, it is still not clear how we can move laterally within the organisation.
Graduate, Melbourne
Satisfied with progression so far. However salary doesn't increase as quick as responsibilities increase.
Graduate, Adelaide
Clear guidelines to progress, but you must be better than the average across your current level within the team you are in
Midlevel, Sydney
I feel like I can go up a level every 2 to 3 years based on experience .
Graduate, Gladstone
The skills and capabilities for each internal level are made explicitly clear, and there are a variety of career tracks to take.
