Yes, there is great diversity at Aurecon. We have diversity and inclusion committees which I thin is helping to drive more diversity at the firm. I have definitely also seen some of the great diversity initiatives at Aurecon. I love that there are regular events to celebrate the various diverse groups at Aurecon and while not part of these programmes myself, I know that Aurecon has development programmes specifically for women to help with nurturing more women to be the future leaders of Aurecon.

Aurecon has a very flexible working policy. Working from home and flexible working hours is normal standard practice. As long as you are performing the same, have discussed it with your line manager, are meeting your total contracted hours, and are able to meet specific requirements such as meeting times and site inspections, no one cares if you work odd hours and out of office.

We have Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) baked into our culture with committees in each region open to anyone who's interested. Our 5 DEI Pillars are Gender, LGBTQI+, Indigenous/Maori (Aus/NZ), Disability and Cultural Diversity. These pillars guide our actions towards improving Equity and Inclusion at Aurecon, with both events and policy evolutions. We have 3 weeks paid parental leave for partners, not just maternity leave. Flexible working is baked into our culture, with many female managers who work part time, and everyone has a mix of working remotely and in the office according to their preferences. a marginalised identity isn't a barrier to recruitment, retention or promotion, with many recruitment activities being actively targeted at people with marginalised identities.

Great parental leave policies, diversity is at the heart of company culture and a lot of support is provided

Definitely more effort to recruit women and LGBT but not much effort on other background

With the diversity and inclusion committee there have been a number of initiatives to create awareness on the different pillars. Currently more attention is being paid in the Aboriginal space and queer space so it would be good to see equal attention paid to other pillars like women and ethnic minorities.

Aurecon definitely tries to tick all the boxes or example by focusing on hiring female graduate and undergraduate engineers. Unfortunately, I don't think this is the right approach as now 90% of lower levels are female but 90% of higher levels are male. This creates a separation between higher & lower levels as well as genders.

Women are retained and are given flexible work options, both mat and pat leave options and we have quite good representation in management. Have an active pride network which regularly holds initiatives or learning. Ethnic minorities- diverse hiring practices- the team I am in has a bunch of different cultures, nationalities and creeds within it

Aurecon has extensive and gender-neutral parental leave benefits, and both internal reward and hiring appears to be done in a diverse and inclusive manner.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
I don't believe that we have a conscious focus on class/socio-economic background, but our 5 pillars of DEI seek to address the disadvantage experienced by people with marginalised identities.

Encourages diverse hires and does not put emphasis on educational institutions

I have noticed big effort to target applicants that are women and LGBT but no other background

We do a pro-bono year 10 work experience day twice a year, but nothing else stands out
