06.00 AM

After snoozing for 20 mins, I finally wake up and make my bed. I enjoy having morning coffee on my balcony and then watering the plants. I take my sweet time to get ready, pray and do some chores around the house. I leave for work by 7:40 and listen to high-level base music while driving.

08.15 AM

I work at Hope Valley Road (HVR) Shipyard where I have named parking right outside the main office. That’s one of the perks of working at HVR. I clock in and go upstairs while greeting everyone.

I get to my desk and settle in, then I go through my emails and start planning my day as per the tasks list that I prepare the day before.

Today is “Lunch with Team” Thursday. Being unable to travel, our team decided that we can go around the globe by having different cuisines. So, we have lunch together every few weeks where I take the charge of organising it. Today, we are going to Japan.

At 9:15 am for morning smoko, I make myself green tea and have it with carrots and cucumber. I like to chat with people during this time and get back to work at 9:30. I perform desktop Physical Configuration Audit for different packs and get them ready for Judy (PPBR Configuration Officer) for review.

11.00 AM

I turn to Judy and say “Is it lunch yet?!” which always cracks her up. Then I get on doing something less hectic like correspondence work.

12.10 PM

I quickly drive around to pick up food and get everything organised for lunch at 12:30.

12.30 PM

It's sushi time!

It's sushi time!

Due to commitments, only 8 of us were able to join for the lunch. We had ordered assorted sushi, squid salad and chocolate wafers, a perfect lunch on a hot summer day!

01.00 PM

I have one-on-one meeting with my Manager every Thursday where I update her on the progress of my tasks and discuss any concerns that I may have.

01.30 PM

What a good day! I finally received much awaited declaration certificates from one of our suppliers. There were a few equipment certificates that were expired and were requested by Client, the Commonwealth Of Australia (CoA). I uploaded all documents to Datawarehouse where we store all vessel related certificates, manuals and other important documents. Then I submitted issue closure and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to the client. That’s one major issue out of the way, such a relief 😊

02.15 PM

I drive to Henderson Shipyard to do on-board Physical Auditing for 2 packs. It’s a nice 10-minute drive along the coast from HVR. I get to park in the designated HVR Visitor Parking. I ensure I have my Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and On-Water Vessel Access card with me.

I get on to the vessel and inspect ship system as per drawings. I check all the fittings/ equipment etc and take note of any observation(s). If I note any issue, I raise it with design/production to resolve and notify the client during submission.

03.00 PM

One audit done just in time for a short break. As I do not work at Henderson facility very often, I take this chance to catch-up with other graduates and meet them at the jetty while enjoying the view. We do not get such view at HVR.

03.15 PM

It’s time for the second audit which usually takes 45 to 60 minutes.

04.15 PM

I go to any free desk in admin building and start working on my laptop. I upload both the Physical Audit Reports on the Datawarehouse and prepare for submission to the client.

I continue to do Desktop Audits and upload any missing documents on the Datawarehouse as required.

05.45 PM

I go through my task list and tick off done items and make note of any outstanding tasks/action item. I make a list of priority tasks for the next day. Lastly, I send a quick update to Judy on audit progress and list of packs ready for her review.

06.15 PM

I clock out and get into my car. Every now and then I like to go to different beaches for a short walk and watch the sunset.

Today’s stop is Scarborough beach 😊

One of the best things about living in Perth, the sunsets are so beautiful!

07.30 PM

On my way to home in Fremantle. Without any failure, I always call my dad on my way home. We both talk about all the details of the day. Every day, I look forward to spending this time with him.

07.50 PM

Reached home and showered. Luckily, I don’t have to cook today as I still have leftover mashed eggplant curry with rice from last night. I heated up the dinner and turned on my laptop to watch Big Bang Theory. This is my all-time favourite show, when I don’t have anything particular in mind, I like to re-watch my favourite episodes.

09.30 PM

I finish washing and cleaning up. This is when I just sit back and relax while listening to soft music. I like to scroll through my social media while enjoying the pleasant breeze.

10.00 PM

I get into bed, set my alarm and put on my noise cancellation Airpods. It’s time for my 15 minutes guided sleep meditation, to clear my mind, let go of worries and get in to deep and sound sleep. This makes me feel fresh and energetic the next day.
