Applications for the 2022 graduate intake with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) closed on 11 April 2021. Our next graduate recruitment process is planned to commence in early 2022, with successful candidates commencing employment in February 2023.
In 2021 the ABS will co-ordinate the recruitment of over 190 Data Graduates for over 20 Australian Public Service departments and agencies.

Data Graduate roles support evidence-based, informed decision making, and work across all aspects of government such as policy development, program management and service delivery. Data Graduate roles cover the full data lifecycle including survey and questionnaire development, data acquisition, data engineering and data analysis, as well as more specialised streams such as data science, methodology, Geospatial analysis and data management.
There are no requirements for any particular degrees or disciplines though people who have undertaken data subjects are more likely to be successful. The types of backgrounds of our graduates are from include analytics, actuarial studies, business, commerce, computer science, data management, data science or mining, demography, economics, econometrics, engineering, finance, mathematics or mathematical modelling, machine learning, psychology, risk and intelligence analysis, social sciences and statistics.
In addition, we also expect to recruit a number of ICT graduates across the ABS work program in various locations around Australia.
