Every day we support millions of Australians from all demographics, backgrounds and ages. We deliver Centrelink, Child Support and Medicare payments and services, as well as Australian Hearing services.
We also provide critical, tailored support to communities and individuals in times of crisis. Last year we provided much needed support to Australians affected by Tropical Cyclone Debbie, and separately, to those affected by the dairy industry downturn.
Most Australians make contact with us at some point in their life and each year we deliver more than $140 billion in payments.
Our department is committed to providing a working environment that values diversity and inclusion, and that supports all employees to reach their full potential. Our commitment is demonstrated through workplace diversity and inclusion strategies, policies and initiatives. Our team would be happy to talk with you about our RecruitAbility scheme available to candidates who identify as having disability and our Affirmative Measures recruitment process for candidates who identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australians.
We are committed to creating a workplace culture that builds respect and fosters inclusion. We acknowledge the skills and perspectives that people may bring to the workplace because of their age, language, ethnicity, cultural background, disability, religious belief, sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex status and work and life experiences.
Our recruitment process
The first step is to submit an online application form. If you’re successful, you’ll then need to complete some online testing. This is followed by a video interview. For the last stage you’ll need to attend an assessment centre, which involves a behavioural interview, group activity and a written task.

If you successfully complete the program, you’ll advance to an APS5 classification level within your relevant job stream with a salary of $73,226. More information can be found in our Enterprise Agreement.
