I studied a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and a Bachelor of Laws at Deakin University in Geelong, where I grew up. I decided to apply for the Graduate Program at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank after my mum emailed me the link to the job ad. She has worked for Bendigo and Adelaide Bank for 25 years and based on how happy she is at work I decided to apply.

It was on the day of the Assessment Centre that I developed a burning desire to get the grad position. The vibe at the Bendigo Centre was unlike that which I have experienced in other jobs and internships. The people seemed genuinely engaged in their jobs and everybody was so friendly and welcoming. The culture was the thing that really struck me and pushed me to do my best.

I was offered the position of Retail Graduate, which I happily accepted. Making the move from Geelong to Bendigo was a big one, but from my first day at the Bank I knew that I had made the right decision. I was given a mentor who was chosen based on my degree and personality, and I honestly do not think that they could have chosen anybody better.

I am now 5 months into my first rotation, which has been in a Project Management role. This position has allowed me to work with a number of senior members of the business, and I am doing something different every day. My next rotation will be in Retail Continuous Improvement, where I will be given the opportunity to work with different Retail business units and liaising with the Change team. My third rotation will be working in a branch for 3 months, which will be with an intention to bring new ideas and a different perspective back to the Retail senior leadership team. The variety of roles and the exposure to different areas of the business is a great opportunity, and I would happily recommend the grad program to anybody who is looking to start a career in the Banking Industry.
