  • Support from team and managers second to none Stimulating work Company's focus on employee growth - internal and external training opportunities
  • Great work culture. Very supportive of finding a good work life balance while achieving not just team goals but personal career goals.
  • Being able to contribute to real world projects and programs keeps the work exciting. Boeing also has a flexible work strategy which has been helpful in the current climate and whilst I was completing my studies. The ability to move between programs also helps to gain more experience.
  • Great mentorship and expertise in the team I am in, interesting work and projects, encouraged to share suggestions and be creative.
  • Great workplace culture, friendly and diverse environment.
  • Large company, big projects, means a lot of the same work, maybe not as exciting as a smaller company.
  • General bureaucracy that comes with working in a large global company.
  • Company/projects are so big, it’s hard to get a good big picture understanding.
  • It can take a long time to move across teams or to different projects within the company.
  • Bureaucracy and inefficient processes.
  • Desk setups and IT Equipment level 10

A conversation with your manager is usually all that is needed to start looking at what you need to do to line yourself up for a promotion. There are many different career paths available and a lot of resources for extra information.

Corporate Social Responsibility
They do have an employee engagement group that includes a 'Green team' looking at what we can do for the environment as well as a Community pillar that gets employees involved in things such as the school backpack appeal and Ozharvest. I was involved in the group during 2020 and worked with the team to transition employee engagement events online to lunch and learn style sessions to help people feel more connected to the broader business while remote working.

Culture
I am very happy with the openness of our company and the positive encouragement we receive to do good work and work together, and to speak up when something isn't right.

Diversity
8.2
Diversity
There are dedicated employee engagement groups committed to looking at diversity and inclusion for different groups and how the company is supporting those people. They assess and make recommendations on things such as policy and procedure, recruitment strategies, and culture training and awareness. Boeing has multiple areas that they cater towards to ensure everyone has the opportunity to be seen and hired into the company regardless of their background, culture, etc.

My role has meant I have taken on a lot of responsibility relatively fast with a steep learning curve. However, I am grateful for this opportunity and prefer these fast-paced environments.

Management

Management
Managers are incredibly supportive. As your manager is not directly involved in the day to day project work they are able to take a more objective look at your career as a whole and how the work you are doing is contributing to your personal success, not just team outcomes.

Great office space, multi-monitor setups with great quality and resolution, comfortable ergonomic chairs and height-adjustable desks. Free standard kitchen items such as milk and coffee. Ping pong tables, showers and lockers are also great.

Recruitment

Recruitment
My hiring process consisted of application submission, followed up by direct contact between a hiring manager who kept me informed along the different stages as my application was processed and then an interview with the hiring manager and a lead project manager. I was asked about my previous experience not only in a technical sense but also how I've developed my soft skills and what my thoughts were on diversity and inclusion. Know and understand the role you are applying for and why you want that particular job. Research possible interview questions and be prepared for the unexpected question. Answer honestly and true to yourself. Relax and take the process/ interview one step at a time, the hiring team are friendly and easy-going.

The pay scheme and bonuses are well thought out. Bonuses are based on performance which provides me with a motivation to succeed more in my current position. The pay is good for a graduate position and it will increase next year as well which is very motivating to stay in the company. Salary sacrifices, discount rewards programs, opportunities to move to different capabilities.

Training

Training
Training is pretty good, a lot of training courses are run externally, but managers are always willing to get funding for your training if it's important to your job. I've picked a lot of technical skills through training with the company as well as some soft skills.

Work Hours
They are very flexible around hours including start times, finish times, and lunch break times/lengths. As long as you do your 7.6 hours a day (and don't miss important meetings) you are free to work at the times that suit you.
