The Story of Coca-Cola Australia

Coca-Cola’s story began in Atlanta, USA, in 1886, when its inventor, Dr John Pemberton, and his staff started selling syrup and soda mix for five cents a glass. In the 1900s, Australia imported Coca-Cola from the United States. It was not until 1938 that the Coca-Cola Company began its production locally, with a single drink, 10 staff, and four trucks.

By 1939, the plants were operating in a number of locations around Australia. In 1950, the Coca-Cola Company began to grant franchises across Australia. The reach of their products grew steadily thanks to innovation in computerised bottling systems, new delivery methods, and the introduction of high-speed packaging technology.

Today they have grown to more than 165 drinks across 25 brands ranging from coffee, juice, mixers, tea, water, and soft drinks, to sports drinks. In Australia, they have 9 production facilities, 32 production lines, and 11 warehouses.

Culture & vibe

The staff at Coca-Cola come from diverse demographic backgrounds. However, team members work as one, united by common values and shared purpose. They strive to develop a team that can create a competitive advantage in the marketplace for the company. They have a fast-paced environment and lots of work so you need to do multitask at times.

Coca-Cola’s range of drinks changed over time, following the tastes of the customers that also changed. For example, from Diet Coke in 1983 to Coke No Sugar in 2017, they are constantly innovating to deliver great taste and reduced sugar. Innovations in products and strategies are among the things that make the company an exciting place to work.
