There parental leave policy makes it difficult for men to take the same amount of leave as women. They have 6 months for primary carers and only 6 weeks for secondary carers, however if their partner has taken primary carer leave (even at a different company) they aren't eligible. Given women need to recover and breastfeed after birth it would then mean men are virtually unable to take the primary carer's leave at any time.

There is a women in engineering group and many female engineers within the company. Unaware of any HR initiative that supports diversity. Senior management and principal engineers are mostly male.

Diversity is good in certain areas and overall, however when looking at specific teams there is limited gender diversity.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
Not much. Relocation assistance is not offered up front and requires lengthy and drawn out negotiation. As such, most new employees are Sydney locals or people who could afford to relocate at their own expense.
