Timothy Alice

My responsibility is to be across the precise details of the project so that I can ask and answer questions from the business and the technical team.

My first experience working at CommBank was as an intern. My workmates went out of their way to ensure that I was learning, engaged and enjoying my time with the bank. Having had such a terrific experience as an intern, I decided to apply for a Graduate role.

I currently work as a Business Analyst in an ‘Agile’ (way of working) project team. The team’s current focus is to enhance the CommBank App.

My responsibility is to be across the precise details of the project so that I can ask and answer questions from the business and the technical team. Tasks include analysing technical system documentation, writing User Stories (ways of collecting business requirements), running Agile ceremonies (team meetings) and presenting at Sprint Reviews (forums in which the team demonstrate their most recent iteration of work).

Aside from our day to day learning on the job, we’ve also received formal training. Topics have included presenting, managing change, understanding risk, instilling productivity habits, financial system awareness and career planning and development.

The Enterprise Services program is structured so that Graduates will have two, nine month placements. If we wish, we have the flexibility to extend the first placement for the entire duration of the program instead.

A highlight from my first placement was working on a very large commercial agreement with a major technology vendor. It resulted in a substantial return on investment for the bank and for me, was very valuable exposure to the commercial negotiation process.

My job is made all the more pleasant thanks to the people I work with. Naturally, heading into work becomes a lot more enticing when you know that everyone in your team is committed and driven to getting things done.

I enjoy working at the bank because I work in a supportive environment, with good people, on projects which improve technology that I, and many of the Australian population, rely on every day to conduct their banking.
