Treasury is an incredibly supportive environment for new graduates, with plenty of formal training, as well as on-the-job learning through three six-month rotations. My second rotation in Markets Group has found me working on a range of complex consumer policy issues – including food labelling, product safety and wider consumer protection. I have been heavily involved in the process of creating a standard for egg labelling and led the development and implementation of a stakeholder engagement strategy. I have developed valuable stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills through this and been given the opportunity to travel around Australia meeting directly with a range of stakeholders, including a memorable visit to an egg farm.
