Gender Equality at Department of Transport and Planning

DTP is committed to providing an inclusive workplace culture where our people are safe, diverse, engaged, valued and high-performing.

The department is committed to gender equality.

DTP’s Inclusion & Diversity Strategy 2020-2023 outlines initiatives to support women in the workplace. These include:

  • Mentoring program
  • Scholarships program
  • Leadership programs
  • Training on family violence and everyday sexism
  • Promotion of key dates such as International Women’s Day
  • A women’s working group which runs inclusion initiatives and events throughout the year and provides support and advocacy for women at DTP.

DTP’s actions to achieve gender equity will be outlined under the Gender Equity Action Plan 2021.

The department has committed to a workforce target of at least 50% women by 2023, and to have 50% women representation in senior roles (VPS 5 and above) by 2023.

The department also co-ordinates the Women in Transport (WiT) Program, a transport portfolio-wide program which aims to increase the number of women who work in the transport sector to 25% by 2021.  The Women in Transport Strategy 2021-2024 will outline our continued focus on strengthening women’s participation and representation in the transport sector.
