Working at DXC has opened many doors of opportunity for me, and I have been able to experience a wide set of working environments.

What's your job about?

My job is fast-moving, diverse and rewarding. DXC Technology (formerly CSC) allows me to work at my full potential, where I am able to completely immerse myself in the world of the digital era and be part of the movement to build an effective and efficient workforce.

I work alongside the General Account Managers where I am responsible for managing the administration of the Sales, Finance and Commercial processes of their major accounts. Further from that, I have had experience working with the delivery teams at two major Australian Banks to further enhance my career experience and become involved in successfully carrying out projects.

Working at DXC has opened many doors of opportunity for me, and I have been able to experience a wide set of working environments. I enjoy the dynamic nature of my role and how each day is a new experience for me, with new experiences where I can feel accomplished. I have been at DXC for over a year now and have already worn many hats in my role enhancing my experience in the Graduate Program.

What's your background?

I grew up in the south-eastern suburbs, where I was brought up by my hardworking parents who continue to inspire me to be the best I can be. Without their ongoing support and encouragement, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I had my first job at a fast-growing and fast-paced restaurant where I acquired a newfound confidence and a number of people-skills. Because of the customer-facing, fast-paced journey I experienced in the Hospitality Industry, I was able to come out of my shell and be exposed to a dynamic workplace which influenced the direction I wanted to take the next step of my career.

I applied for DXC when I was in my final year of my Business degree at Monash University. I was searching for a company where I would be exposed to a diverse global workplace in a role that I would be able to experience new challenges every day as well as one that was fast-moving and relevant. DXC ticked all the boxes of where I wanted to be in the new stage of my career.

Since day one, I have been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to work at two major Australian Banks in two different roles representing the company and to work alongside professionals in a fantastic supportive team in the Banking Industry, including General Account Managers in an operations and support role. Every day is a new story, and I am proud to be leading it.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Absolutely. I work alongside professionals who have a number of different backgrounds and we all contribute something valuable and different to the team. I have learnt along the way that confidence plays a big factor in becoming successful in the professional workplace, and not being afraid to voice an opinion. My diverse role gives me exposure to a number of streams including Sales, Strategy, Finance, Marketing and much more allowing me stretch even further than where my degree has taken me. I have been involved in a number of projects and work tasks that have driven me to become a successful graduate at DXC.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

The coolest thing about my job is being offered the opportunity to work with the client on the client site, and being exposed to a number of different streams allowing me to expand my capabilities.

Since starting the graduate program, I have been lucky enough to experience a great opportunity working at two major Australian banks. Each role was different from each other which allowed me to develop and focus on growing my skills and abilities. With each new skill comes a new challenge, which is beneficial to excel in my career path and be involved in future opportunities.

What are the limitations of your job?

Working at a client site has its limitations as I am fully accountable for every work output that I am assigned. Not only am I responsible for the tasks that I am assigned, but also representing my company as a valuable resource. With every output that I present to the team at each client site I ensure that it is only the utmost quality to ensure that I represent both the company and myself in a good light.

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

1. Complete Internships!

Completing internships will help you understand where you want to go and what you want to do. I completed two during my time at University and both experiences increased my confidence of public speaking as well as developing a new understanding of the professional workplace that influenced where I wanted to go and what career path I wanted to follow.

2. Do what makes YOU happy!

Remember to study what you want to study, and to pursue a career that you feel passionate about. If you are passionate about your work tasks and your job, you will feel accomplished and successful allowing more doors to open up for you.

3. Sweat it out!

During University I used to stress a lot about exams and assignments. What helped me make it through successfully was going to gym and sweating all that stress and anxiety out, as well as meditating whenever I could. It helped me clear my mind and start every day feeling refreshed and ready to take on whatever challenges the day presented.
