Emily Bateman

This program taught me the value of building relationships, teaming and above all balancing work and fun. The relationships I developed helped immensely with my transition to working life.

What did you learn through the program?

This program taught me the value of building relationships, teaming and above all balancing work and fun. The relationships I developed helped immensely with my transition to working life. Having a team of people who were going through a similar new experience was invaluable, as were all the memories from events. While 7 years on many of my grad group are now succeeding in other roles, the network and friendships I was able to develop through the grad program is still important to me today.

How did it shape your current career?

The grad program gave me the support and the building blocks I needed to develop and succeed in my career. My buddy and counsellor were always available and never seemed to tire of my endless questions, helping me to grow and reach my goals; the training program taught me valuable technical skills (I still drag out my old training materials to this day!); and the opportunities to attend meetings and be part of a team on large complex assignments taught me how to manage client relationships and workflow.

What is your advice for future graduates?

Ask questions, seek out opportunities and challenges, learn as much as you can and above all else enjoy the experience. It’s such a fun and exciting time for which you can establish the grounds for success in your future career.
