We solve the most complex challenges for some of the world's most dynamic organisations, using our knowledge, experience and energy to help them seize their most important opportunities.

Being Freshfields means committing to our values, including treating everyone with respect, consideration and courtesy, as well as working together to deliver exceptional service that helps our clients make confident decisions.

Whether it's entering new markets, defending corporate reputation or managing multijurisdictional regulation, at Freshfields you'll be breaking new legal ground to help our clients go further.

We are committed to being a responsible, diverse and inclusive business. And our unique eight-seat training contract draws upon our connected innovation strategy, laying the foundation for a career at the cutting edge of corporate law and the opportunity to develop – not just as a lawyer, but as a person, too.

Recruitment Process

Our application process starts with completing an online application form which involves writing 850 words that give us a good idea of who you are and submitting your CV and transcripts.

We'll contact you if we like what we read in your application form. We'll ask you to complete an online assessment in advance of attending an interview either at our office or over Teams. We will contact you within a few weeks after your interview to let you know if you have been successful.

Working with us requires a strong academic record, with a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent. A flair for languages is also important, and we have a preference for spoken and written Mandarin in our Hong Kong office. You must also be able to demonstrate great potential and a desire to work within China.

Remuneration & Career Growth

As well as solving some of the world's most complex legal issues, you will also be rewarded with a competitive salary and benefits package.

We pay trainees a monthly salary of HK$48,000 in the first year, rising to HK$50,000 in the second year, as well as offering a range of lifestyle benefits and other perks including:

  • 22 days' paid holiday per year;
