Reem Aziz

Greeted by friendly colleagues, I kickstart my workday with an iced coffee and a catch-up with my team!

7.00 AM

It’s time to wake up! Since I avoid the Parramatta traffic by not driving to work, I wake up early to catch my train. After getting my hair, make-up, and outfit ready, I am off to the train station.

8.00 AM

Train ride to work.

8.45 AM

When I arrive at work, I am greeted by friendly colleagues on my office floor.

9.00 AM

I sit at my computer, kickstarting the day with a refreshing iced coffee. Then, I have a quick catch-up with my team.

9.15 AM

I had an informal progress conversation with my manager to check in and talk about my internship experience over the past few weeks. My manager and colleagues are highly supportive, flexible and accommodating regarding my university and work commitments outside of work.

9.30 AM

I was tasked to complete two profiles to assist the Senior Recruitment Consultant. I was able to complete both profiles in around 30 minutes. Completed profiles are emailed for review and onward directed to the client.

10.00 AM

To help one of the recruitment consultants in the office, I was asked to complete two reference checks. Unfortunately, one of the referees did not pick up, so I left a voicemail. I finalised the first reference check and then prepared it for sending upon the return call.

10.20 AM

The primary system I use at work is Bullhorn, and it allows me to seamlessly search for candidates that match our client's job requirements.

I usually get asked to look for candidates for our job postings this time during the day. Using Idibu, I identify potential candidates, conduct pre-screening calls and document this information on Bullhorn so everyone can access them.

At first, I was not confident pre-screening candidates as I was unfamiliar with the manufacturing industry; however, after a few conversations over the phone with a couple of candidates, I felt more confident. I started to enjoy communicating with candidates as I'm a big talker, and it was also an excellent way to gain deeper insight into the manufacturing industry.

12.30 PM

It's lunchtime. Usually, I bring lunch and eat in the office to build a friendly relationship with my colleagues.

1.30 PM

Post-lunch, I completed the reference checks and emailed them for proofreading before sending them to our client.

2.00 PM

After I exhausted the candidates who applied on Idibu, I headed to Seek Premium Talent Search to headhunt and pre-screen potential candidates for our client.

4.00 PM

At this time I would create profiles for selected candidates and send them to the Senior Consultant.

5.00 PM

Before leaving for the day, I have a brief catch-up with my manager, reporting on completed tasks and addressing any outstanding items.

5.30 PM

My train arrived, and I was ready to go home.

6.30 PM

I'm back at home, and I get ready to hit the gym for some exercise (it's upper back and biceps today!)

7.45 PM

Back home I take a quick shower, followed by dinner. Then, I work on completing my assignments and university work.

12.00 PM

It's finally bedtime.
