About Gallagher

Gallagher was founded by Arthur J Gallagher in a basement office in Chicago in 1927. Our Global Chairman, CEO and President, J Patrick Gallagher – Arthur's grandson – started as an intern in 1972 and has worked to carry on his family legacy. Gallagher has remained true to its origins and places a strong emphasis on maintaining a family feel, making it a unique culture for a global organisation.

Our Australian branch network includes 32+ branches, and we partner with more than 100,000 Australian businesses, from small businesses through to multinational corporations and iconic brands.

Corporate Social Responsibility

At Gallagher, we like to give back to our community. We recognise the importance of the communities in which we operate in and have select partnerships to help focus our efforts and these are based around:

  • Inclusion & Diversity – building an inclusive culture that values diversity
  • Community - engaging business and community with purpose
  • Environment & Sustainability – promoting environmental sustainability

One of our proud community partnerships is with JDRF and we also work with The Smith Family.

Volunteering is a big part of CSR and employees are provided with paid leave to volunteer with a charity of choice. These connections, engagement and giving back to the  community forms part of our Your Cause global campaign at Gallagher.

Our people

Our people are the key difference at Gallagher. We believe in an environment that values and leverages diverse talents, perspectives and ideas so that everyone can reach their full potential. We offer a culture of respect and trust that is an essential part of The Gallagher Way - our shared values and behaviours.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • Very inclusive, and welcoming. Everyone in my experience has been helpful and accommodating.
  • The flexibility and openness each member has, the corporate culture revolves around empowering individuals instead of revolving around a strict micro-management type of workplace
  • Ability to easily rotate between teams and learn about new aspects of the organisation
  • The flexibility of working a hybrid role.
  • With many employees working from home on some days it makes it difficult to consistently develop my skills and learn from other experienced employees.
  • Each team is fairly independent, you don't really get to mix with different teams in the business.

It’s the end of the day! I wrap up whatever I am working on and tidy my desk so it is clean for the next day. I have a quick catch-up with my supervisor and team members before I am off to the train station, but somehow I manage a quick elevator selfie because why not?
