Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
Very well designed training program.
Online modules and weekly group tutorial that last an hour or so.
IPREP training is a 2yrs program for patent examination. Great self-paced learning with well-planned tutorials and group sessions as well. Topics covered include: Patent Examination skills, APS code of conduct, working with different types of people.
The on the job training and mentoring is very good.
Formal patent examiner training is well organised, slick and brings you to legal and technical proficiency quickly in a work related environment.
We do a 2 year training program to become very comfortable and familiar with Patent Examination.
To become an independent examiner (i.e. receive acceptance delegation) there is a stringent training program that takes up to 2 years to complete. This training is comprehensive and primarily trains you in Patent law and the role of the examiner. Throughout this training there is a high level of support from managers and training staff and many resources are available. Once you have your acceptance delegation, there are still a lot of learning opportunities available including conference attendance, online learning programs and face-to-face courses in a wide range of topics. My section also has technical meetings to share knowledge and learn from cases, which are always good to pick up new examination tips. IP Australia also has various programs to enable study at tertiary institutes while working at IPA.
The training program is very detailed and very well run. All training is self-paced so is suitable for all experience levels and learning speeds. IP Australia also runs a number of personal development courses outside of the initial training program.
Excellent on the job training including one on one, group sessions and online training.
IP Australia has a 2 year training program which educates trainees on the legislative details of patent law. On graduation you are given acceptance delegation, and you can accept patents on behalf of the commissioner.
Online and workshops, alongside on the job training with your work coach.
The patent examination training program is flexible, intuitive, and well supported by various staff.
I went through competency based training program for patent examiners. Being self-paced is the most important aspect of the program. I was able to improve my communication skills, negotiation skills as well as logical thinking skills during this program.
Training is comprehensive and generally well put together.
Formal training process that lasts 12-24 months. Online and classroom based.
I have had training provided on patent examining skills, but also on a variety of other topics. For e.g. having difficult conversations and bullying.
