 About the opportunity

An opportunity exists for a graduate or early career professional to join Jacobs’ Economics and Advisory team in Melbourne, with a strong focus on infrastructure advisory.

As part of our Economics and Advisory practice, you will be part of a team that provides strategic advice to our clients, enabling them to make informed decisions that deliver value. We provide services across a range of sectors – transport, Defence, social infrastructure/cities, energy, water and environment, mining and resources – to large public and private sector clients across Asia Pacific. Our advisory services include:

  • Infrastructure investment, long term strategic planning, business case development and capital projects  
  • Strategy review, development and evaluation 
  • Policy and program analysis, development and evaluation 

In this role you will primarily focus on providing strategic infrastructure advice to major public and private sector clients. This advice will encompass infrastructure and asset planning, investment, development and management and include:

  • Supporting the preparation of business cases in accordance with Commonwealth and State Governments and sector specific guidelines and procedures
  • Supporting the preparation of feasibility studies and options assessments
  • Working with senior consultants to provide strategic and operational advice regarding how to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of infrastructure related planning, investment, development, delivery, maintenance and disposal processes, policies and guidance
  • Undertaking directed research and analysis regarding a client’s asset and infrastructure planning and management issues and challenges (capital investment planning and development, investment analysis and prioritisation)
  • Working collaboratively with other Jacobs’ team members to pursue infrastructure planning and business case opportunities and assist in the preparation of bids/proposals
  • Working with stakeholders, supporting the development of statements of requirements, project and program evaluations, long term scenario planning, and value for money reviews

About you
The successful candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Arts, Law, Economics, Commerce, Business, Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Strong research and analytical ability
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Report writing capabilities
  • Ability to frame, analyse and solve ambiguous problems/concepts
  • Organisational and time management skills, ability to manage competing demands. Demonstrated project management skills would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of and/or exposure to one or more of the following sectors -  aviation, transport, social infrastructure, energy, mining or earth resources
