Senior Lawyer Track:
As capability, experience and industry knowledge develops some will become a senior associate (and some, special counsel) – with greater responsibility in leading teams and driving client matters.
Some will then go on to achieve partnership – building the capability and depth to become a leader and owner of the business. It takes a special person to become a partner: commercially smart, outstanding legal skills, a strong relationship builder, great business insight and more. KWM provides significant support to lawyers to grow on the partnership track.
KWM professional track:
Some will step into the business side of KWM, into marketing, knowledge management or other professional role. This area is growing in impact and importance.

This partnership involved the integration of Rare’s Contextual Recruitment System (CRS), a unique recruitment tool, into our summer clerkship recruitment process.
The CRS recruitment tool enables us to better understand our candidates’ experiences, achievements and skills against the backdrop of any unique personal circumstances and in light of any adversity you have overcome – whether it be educational, financial or personal. It also highlights diverse reservoirs of talent for us and provides a more level ‘playing field’ for all our candidates. To facilitate the use of CRS, candidates are asked some additional contextual information about their personal circumstances and background as part of their application. This information provides us with a more contextualised picture of our candidates’ personal, academic and extra-curricular achievements.
It is important to note that CRS is a screen-in tool, not a screen-out tool. Applications from candidates who are from an advantaged background, possess a strong academic record and have extracurricular experience will not be assessed any differently than previously.
