Career Prospects at Landgate

5.4
5.4 rating for Career Prospects, based on 7 reviews
Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
I feel that coming in as a graduate leaves the door wide open for career progression, we have the opportunity to work across different business units and network, which in a business based heavily on relationships will become a strong factor in career progression and promotions. I believe that a strong work ethic and quality of work while important within the business, is not enough to move up the ranks, it is important for the right people to know who you are and what you can offer, which is something unique that the grad program can offer as we will work with a variety of managers and directors across the business in different teams. Hopefully giving us a leg up in obtaining careers after the program ends.

Very limited progression opportunities and it is quite a slow progression. Part of the blame is the government's recruitment process which is restrictive and nor progressive.
Experienced, Midland
I have a 12 month contract and the possibility of employment after that has not actually been discussed with me.
Graduate, Perth
I am uncertain about this.

Promotions are based on one's merit to deliver quality work in a specified time frame. Employees must show they are capable in their current role before they are promoted to a 'senior' level of that same role. There are also advertisements from time to time which indicate that Landgate is looking for someone to fill in that spot for X amount of time. Sometimes that role will be of a higher level than the one you are currently in. If you check all the boxes, you can apply for that role. At the end of the day, time in combination with experience will usually yield a promotion.

I think that there are certainly opportunities available but it's generally limited to experienced professionals. The opportunity for graduates to receive promotions is possible but it's quite rare.

I am uncertain about the career prospects after the completion of the Graduate program. I understand there is most likely not a role which aligns with my qualifications and career aspirations after the 12 months. This is not to say that is the same for every team or degree, I have just found there to be a large gap between entry level positions and senior roles. The mapping of how you are to progress between here is slightly uncertain. I think that following on from the graduate program, it would be effective to implement further pathway options for Graduates.
