The Graduate Development Program has really helped me develop skills beyond the immediate scope of my role.

I am an associate in the Prudential, Capital and Markets (PCM) team, which is part of the Risk Management Group. I studied a Bachelor of International Studies and a Bachelor of Laws.

My responsibilities include liaison with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) on prudential related matters and working together with our different business groups to ensure compliance with prudential standards. Some of the projects and work I am involved in includes reviewing securitisation agreements for APRA compliance, managing secured funding reporting requirements for APRA, assisting with preparations for APRA visits and working on credit model projects and initiatives.

I report to two directors who manage different teams within PCM. Thanks to this, I’ve been exposed to a broad range of work and been given many learning opportunities.

I really enjoy the amount of time I spend working with senior stakeholders, and I’ve learnt a lot from the insights and experiences they’ve shared with me.

As part of the Graduate Program, I’ve been co-chair of the Graduate Volunteer Network. My responsibilities have been to propose fundraising ideas, generate interest from other graduates and ensure we always have enough volunteers attending events. In order to maximise fundraising, I’ve also assisted other committee members with their ideas, and helped members get involved with their chosen initiatives. We raised more than $A300,000 for charity throughout 2018 – an amazing result.

The Graduate Development Program has really helped me develop skills beyond the immediate scope of my role. The content is built around what graduates want to know: the first session involved getting our feedback on what we wanted to learn throughout the program. I particularly enjoyed two of the training sessions – “Economic Outlook and Financial Wellbeing” and the “Business Writing Workshop”.
