Pros & Cons

  • Mainfreight has a great culture. The Ready Fire Aim mentality allows graduates to own what they do and take responsibility of their ideas and careers. The subsidised cooked lunches are a great tradition as well.
  • Travel, learning, accelerated development, no bureaucracy, hard work is noticed - smart work is rewarded.
  • The workplace culture, the support and the team.
  • The people, the fact they give you opportunities if you put in the work.
  • Best thing is our Team Culture. Everyone has to pull together to get the jobs done. Being able to talk freely to BMs and GMs is also really cool and rewarding.
  • Work/Life balance can be tough to maintain. No worse than many other jobs in the private sector though.
  • Slow progress of moving into your desired role in the workplace.
  • Sometimes the hours can get the better of you but the team is always there to pick you up when you lose your mojo.
  • The pay for a graduate is not as high as other companies.
  • Time spent on the depot floor.

We have the books in home program and a scholarship program also, Run for Kids etc. However given the industry we work in I don't see any environmental initiatives.

Our branch is great! Our managers are always happy to chat and mentor anyone who asks. Sometimes we get busy and things become too hectic and we miss out on some things but it is always brought up later on. You aren't forgotten about here.

Very functional, open plan, coffee room, lunchroom where the kitchen team cooks meals. The newer offices are amazing, a lot of design has gone into the newer offices. Good location, although we have multiple depots in Melbourne and then around Australia as well as Globally.

The hiring policy seems a bit too long as the company seeks the perfect candidate however that's not always a bad thing. Sometimes the longevity of the process can cause operational problems. The interview process is a 3 stage process for a grad which includes a numeracy test.
