What's your job about?

I am the internal advocate of my customer’s needs and business priorities. I help them realise the value of technology based on their vision and requirements. On a daily, I consistently manage my account relationships, ensure that the right people are meeting with my customers at the right time, about the right topic. I also ensure that I am across the internal provisions at Microsoft so that I can secure all the best resources, offers, and incentives on behalf of my customers.

I am the puppet master. My job is to pull the strings to ensure that the show is a good one.

What's your background?

I’m a nomad at heart. Born in India I had moved to 6 different countries by the time I was 18. South East Asia being very much so what I’ve associated as home. I’ve had some pinnacle moments in life from qualifying for Junior Olympics in swimming to watching my dog give birth to puppies. I think these moments really help build you up as a person regardless of what their nature is.

I applied for the Intern program at Microsoft after visiting the Microsoft stand at one of my college fairs. When I first applied for my Microsoft internship the aim for me was to save enough seed money to invest in my own start-up education LMS site that I had crafted. A year after, as luck would have it, I secured a role in the Education team here at Microsoft that taught me so much about the industry that I never knew about and shaped a new way for me to look at it.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

When a customer takes the time to thank you, to show you their appreciation it makes working worthwhile. Also when you have a vision in mind and you work toward it for months on end and it finally becomes a reality.

In terms of the company, I love the opportunity to travel for graduate programs and the ability to continually learn through online courses.

What are the limitations of your job?

In a sales role, time tends to be your enemy, there is so much to be done and such little time to do it in. The days tend to go by in the blink of an eye and at times that can be an overwhelming feeling.

3 pieces of advice for your teenage self...

You may not see it yet but every decision you have made in life from travel, to work experience, to interests has already shaped a path for you. It’s not you that tends to find the right fit for a job but many a time the job that tends to fit you.
