Murray-Darling Basin Authority Graduate Programs & Internships

  • Government & Public Service

The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is a diverse group of passionate experts working across science, policy, river operations, engagement, corporate services and more.

Regardless of role and which of the 8 offices employees work from, graduates will relish the challenge of developing new skills and meaningful work that is making a difference in communities across the Murray–Darling Basin.

With competitive remuneration and a work-life balance that works for us, the MDBA is serious about valuing and supporting all members of the MDBA team. The MDBA is always looking out for talented and motivated people to join the agency on the journey towards world-leading water reform and management.

The Graduate Program

The MDBA's graduate program consists of on-the-job training and ongoing learning and development opportunities designed to lay a solid foundation for a graduate's career.

During an 11 month program, graduates get to try 3 jobs on for size, staying with each team for just under 4 months. Each work area will provide graduates with varied opportunities for on the job training.

Through rotations, graduates will have the opportunity to:

  • attend training to develop the skills and knowledge needed
  • be actively involved with Basin meeting stakeholders, or
  • help to run the River Murray

Graduates will also be exposed to a variety of internal seminars and events relating to the MDBA's core business and will participate in training that will provide an understanding of the public sector and build a foundation for development as a future APS manager and leader.

Graduate positions will be based at one of the MDBA's office locations, including Adelaide, Albury-Wodonga, Canberra, Goondiwindi, Griffith, Mildura, Murray Bridge and Toowoomba. Priority placements will be made at Goondiwindi, Griffith and Mildura.

We're an equal opportunity employer — Indigenous Australians, mature-aged graduates and people with disability are encouraged to apply.

You must be an Australian citizen or gain citizenship before the commencement of the program.
