nbn Graduate Programs

The nbn Grad Program offers a 24-month rotation-based program. Grads complete three six-month rotations to explore various roles.

Applications for the 2025 Graduate Programs open in March 2024.

To be eligible for the nbn Graduate Program you:

  • Will have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the past three years (or are due to complete your degree prior to commencement).
  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident when you apply.

Recruitment Process

We're excited about your interest in nbn's Grad Program. To ensure this is right for you, we've created a thorough recruitment process that evaluates your skills and knowledge. If you have any special requests or accessibility requirements throughout the recruitment process, please advise us at the time of application (via [email protected]) and we will adjust to meet your needs.

1. Apply online

If you're interested in applying for the 2025 nbn Grad Program, you'll need to submit an online application. Before starting, ensure you have your resume and academic transcript handy. The application form will ask for written responses and focus on why you want to work with us.

You'll also need to apply to the most appropriate stream / business unit you're most interested in based on your degree.

2. Complete our online assessment

If you're selected, you'll be invited to complete three online assessments that take around 45 minutes in total. It's easy and convenient - you can do it from your own cosy space or anywhere with internet access.

We’ll learn more about how you like to work, solve problems, plan and draw logical conclusions. You’ll also get some insights into your capabilities and reflect on your strengths and key skills.

If successful, it’s time for your digital interview.

3. Record a digital interview

It’s your time to shine on video as you self-record answers to our questions, including why you are interested in joining nbn, and about your skills and experience.

If you're chosen as a successful candidate, you'll receive an invitation to attend an information session. Good luck!

4. Join a virtual interview

We'll invite you to a virtual interview once you've made it through the earlier stages. Meet with nbn business leaders to discuss your experiences, motivations, and anything else you think is relevant. It's the perfect opportunity to show off your skills and experience. Good luck!

To help you ace your interview, we recommend getting to know the 'STAR' technique and checking out our interview tips here. Best of luck!

5. Final step - Offer

If you are successful in your interview and meet all background checks, expect nbn to call and offer you a spot in the Grad Program! Our Grad Program Manager will keep in touch with you until your start date in February, so you can rest assured that you're all set to go.

Background checks may include:

  • a 100-point identification check;
  • eligibility to work confirmation;
  • employment verification check;
  • national criminal record check;
  • reference checks

Keep in touch

We'll keep you in the loop every step of the way. Just make sure to check your email often and update your profile online if you switch addresses. If you are unsuccessful, we'll let you know and recommend keeping an eye on our nbn careers page for upcoming chances.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Our Grads benefit from participating in custom-designed workshops and tailored learning and development programs designed to support your on-the-job learning and path to becoming a future leader.

Once you join the program, you’ll have an nbn Senior Business Leader as your mentor and go-to person. They’ll be there to guide and support you every step of the way. Along with your mentor, you will have a fantastic support network with a rotation manager and sponsor who will offer expertise and advice to help you thrive in the Grad Program.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The people are extremely welcoming and approachable, it makes asking questions very easy.
  • The culture and work environment. The people I work and interact with makes working at nbn incredibly enjoyable!
  • Working at this company has been an absolute joy, thanks in large part to the amazing environment that's been created here. As a graduate, I couldn't have asked for a more supportive and nurturing place to begin my career. From day one, I've been welcomed with open arms by my colleagues, who have shown an incredible amount of care and curiosity about my experiences and perspectives.
  • Very friendly and laid-back culture with flexible working arrangements.
  • Being able to complete rotations. I feel like this helped me gain a better understanding of the different teams within the business unit and which team suites me better. And the culture too.
  • Somewhat slow onboarding process. Takes some time to figure out the permissions required but can be rectified quickly.
  • The bureaucracy (is going to be a thing for all enterprises)
  • There are a lot of meeting that we have attend during our day to day, sometimes the meetings seem repetitive.
  • Many of my days are packed full of meetings, which can sometimes hinder my ability to achieve tasks and carry out my responsibilities.
  • Meeting culture is prevalent in my experience, but experience does vary between teams.
