What you'll do 

  • Under supervision – drafting various legal documents and reviewing contracts in line with risk management protocols.
  • Under supervision – negotiations with internal and external stakeholders in line with risk management policy.
  • Conducting legal research and industry-relevant material in a timely manner.
  • Assist with compliance-related tasks such as monitoring regulatory and legislative changes and ensuring adherence to legal requirements.
  • Compile, maintain and circulate to the team a “work in progress” register and update matter status for weekly team meetings.
  • Liaise with appropriate internal stakeholders for the execution of documents.
  • Maintain document execution register.
  • Review incoming matters and coordinate and triage them within 48 hours.

Who can apply?

  • Currently studying a Bachelor of Law is essential.
  • Previous experience as a paralegal in a similar in-house position (desired, not essential).
  • Strong research skills with great attention to detail.
  • Experience in writing/preparing a variety of legal documents.
  • High degree of professional ethics, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Proactively solves problems and makes decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven good interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport and maintain effective relationships, internal and external to Northrop.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage and prioritise workloads with sound project management skills including using initiative, problem solving and meeting objectives.
