Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
Our firm has promotion opportunities up to partner level. The transition from Graduate to lawyer to Associate arises on a time basis (e.g. Associate is awarded roughly a year post admission). Senior Associate, Special Counsel and Partner come as a matter of merit
Graduate, Brisbane
This is a very transparent process.

I get direct client contact and manage certain aspects of projects on my own which is great responsibility

Promotion really only becomes relevant upon completion of the two year grad-program, however there is a matrix which outlines what your expectations are in your role, there are also regular performance reviews which I have not undertaken as yet, but I would imagine these would form the basis of the areas you are required to improve upon for career advancement and progression.

The progress for our careers is very direct, but it would be good to get a bit more information on this, considering the last time we learned about it was during the graduate program induction.

My firm runs a series of 8 programs (academies) which you attend over the course of your career, aimed at developing your skills to enable you to take the next step in your career. Moving out of the grad program happens automatically once you finish the program, but promotions after that require an application once the baseline criteria are satisfied (such as minimum post-admission years and completion of the appropriate academies)
