What you'll work on

Over the 10 weeks, you'll participate in a highly interactive derivative theory training course that covers extensive trading principles and concepts, delivered by our Head of Trader Education.

You'll then be part of a small team who develop and deliver the risk management activities of the entire firm, in a fast-paced and dynamic trading environment. To keep us at the forefront of an ever-changing trading environment, you'll create and improve risk monitoring tools. You'll analyse risk and market data to solve practical problems. Day to day you will:

  • Control market and credit-related risks in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Maintain and improve market and credit risk management governance and control frameworks
  • Advise on limits policies and methodologies, following up and enforcing solutions for limit violations
  • Maintain, improve upon, and build risk reports and tools
  • Prepare daily reports for the Local Head of Risk
  • Provide risk opinions and views to Trading and Management
  • Contribute daily to ensure that the Risk Management team stay up to date with new developments in the risk arena

Who you are

You have a keen interest in the financial markets, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a natural curiosity. You also:

  • Are an adept communicator
  • Have good planning and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Are proactive by nature and can work autonomously
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative environment
  • Have a practical mindset with the ability to remain calm in a crisis
  • Have experience with coding (VBA, Python, Matlab or other) would be a plus

Eligibility

  • A penultimate year university student, graduating mid or end of 2022
  • An Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or able to provide evidence of full working rights for the duration of the Internship

2 year duration

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.

1.5 year duration

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent), or higher level qualification, in a business or related discipline from a recognised tertiary*

OR

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, from a recognised tertiary institution in any discipline plus a minimum of two years relevant work

The RMIT Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management^.

^Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate you will have the opportunity to progress to the Master degree.

*If your qualification was completed more than 10 years ago you will need to provide evidence of ongoing professional work and/or professional development in the same discipline as the program for which you are seeking entry to be granted advanced standing.

  • Australian bachelor degree or equivalent, or higher level qualification, in a business (or related) discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.

English language requirements

To study this course you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL (Internet Based Test - IBT): minimum overall score of 79 (with minimum of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum of 176 with no less than 169 in any component.
