An experience like no other

Pitcher Partners is committed to making business personal, working together to build better relationships, better results and a better place to work, both for their people and their clients. They build close, professional relationships and provide the highest level of personal service to their clients in the middle market . Their teams are supported and empowered through close interaction with partners, regular technical programs, and innovative professional development. Your foundational learning journey includes technical learning experiences, business acumen programs and professional development opportunities.

Pitcher Partners knows that it’s their people that makes them successful, so they provide an environment that helps you perform at your best. They know that keeping your fire ignited benefits everyone, so they invest in the future of everyone who works there and a culture that supports collaboration, team work, curiosity and continual learning.

Join a firm that will provide you with a breadth of experience across accounting and business advisory along with the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise with one of Australia’s leading professional services firms. You’ll work with some of Australia’s best known businesses to help them grow and prosper, gaining experience across a broad range of matters such as audit, taxation advice, deal advisory and transactions, investment advisory, international taxation matters, cross-border business structuring, internal audit, and data and analytics projects, to name a few.

Life at Pitcher Partners

When you join Picher Partners you’re joining a team with heart. They support each other, learn together and foster relationships that nurture and empower every individual.

They are a collaborative firm where the work is rewarding, and team spirit permeates the firm culture, values, and workplace design.

Their people’s wellbeing is at the forefront of their commitment to care. They are a ‘Skilled Workplace’ as part of the Mental Health First Aid Workplace Recognition Program. They run mental health, wellbeing and mindfulness sessions throughout the year, inspiring their people to achieve balance and be their best selves.

At Pitcher Partners, you’ll also have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in need. Use the skills and experience gained through your client work to support the local community through Pitcher Partners’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. With pro bono work and paid volunteer days, there are always opportunities to get actively involved with charities and other initiatives.

A graduate program with a difference

When you join the Melbourne firm’s graduate program, you will benefit from a comprehensive 24-month program that builds your breadth and gives you the opportunity to undertake two-three experiences across the different areas of accounting and business advisory within the firm.

Across each 8-month experience, you will have the chance to learn about a different area of the firm, build your networks, work with a variety of clients and build your technical knowledge.

At the end of the program, you’ll know exactly where and how you’d like to deepen your technical expertise as you set a plan for career progression and chart your pathway to leadership. You can take ownership of your career and Pitcher Partners will help you achieve success, whatever that looks like to you.

Recruitment Process

1. Submit your online application

Complete an online application covering your motivation to apply for the program, work, team and leadership experience, extra-curricular activities, academic results, eligibility to work and more. You will be asked to submit a resume and cover letter as part of your application.

2. Video interview

You will receive a link to complete a video interview, which will take around 15 - 20 minutes to complete. You will be asked some questions about yourself and your background, to help them get to know you and understand more about your motivations for applying for our program. They won’t be asking any behavioural questions in this interview, so you don’t need to practice your STAR responses just yet! They encourage you to do your research and be able to clearly articulate why you want to join Pitcher Partners and why you selected the interest areas you did.

4. Participate in an assessment centre

Held in their Docklands office, you will participate in group activities and an individual interview with senior leaders. You will have the opportunity to hear from one of their partners, have some nibbles, meet some of their current graduates, and get a tour around the office. The interview will be behavioural based so we recommend you practice the STAR technique and come prepared with some questions for your interviewers and the other PP people you will meet on the day.

If you are interstate, overseas or have special requirements at the time of the assessment centre, you may be able to participate in separate assessment activities and interviews.

5. Receive an offer

Successful applicants will receive a call from their early careers team to be offered an intern or graduate role. If you accept, you’ll be sent a formal offer. Candidates who were unsuccessful will also be contacted at this time.

Career pathways at Pitcher Partners

Their student and graduate programs are tailored to help you:

  • Gain a breadth of client experience
  • Identify where you’d like to focus on deepening your technical expertise
  • Build the foundations of a successful professional career.

Remuneration and Career Progression for our Graduates

Our Graduate Experience Program is designed to provide the foundations you need for a successful career with a leading professional services firm. Not only will you gain a breadth of experience working across different practice areas, but you’ll get an understanding of where you’d like to focus your efforts on deepening your technical expertise as your career progresses. Whilst the program runs for 2 years, we believe that the minute you finish induction you are no longer a “Graduate”. Our Analysts are able to contribute to real client work from the start of the program and are able to gain a breadth of experience across a number of different clients, industries and services. Our Analysts are some of the most highly connected individuals, having met and worked with a large variety of managers and partners across the course of the program.

To recognise our Analysts for their development and contribution, a salary review is conducted at the end of each Experience (every 8 months) as well as at the completion of the Graduate Experience Program. At completion of the program, we work closely with our Analysts to identify where they want to build their depth of knowledge and place them into the relevant practice group. Throughout the program and upon completion, we have dedicated learning and development opportunities to ensure you are set up for a successful career.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • Get to represent the values our film stands for in taking care of mid-market clients with sincerity and care - the values have excited me from day one and motivated me to become a trusted adviser for our clients.
  • Everyone, no matter their title, is very inclusive and always has the time to help you, even when they are busy themselves. We are like a small little family here, everyone is reliable and always makes it much more enjoyable to come into the office.
  • There are numerous opportunities to cultivate a wide range of technical and transferable skills at Pitcher Partners. The company places a strong emphasis on training its employees to a high standard.
  • The culture in Pitcher Partners is amazing, seniors are helpful with setting us up on tasks when delegating, and a good amount of training is provided before being put on engagements. Regular feedback is given during and after each engagement. Grads are not expected to work crazy long hours during peak seasons.
  • The level of opportunity and responsibility that is available to individuals who are willing to put themselves out there and take on opportunities that arise. There is scope for junior staff members to take on a wider variety of tasks as opposed to taking on repetitive entry-level jobs. This further improves as you progress further in your career with more opportunities and responsibilities passed on.
  • The rotations can be a little unknown, and you need to be adaptable. (I like to control things so this is a downside for me)
  • I couldn't think of any...but if I have to name one I would say the rotation program is challenging as you are starting with a new team every eight months, where you need to adapt to new procedures etc. But at the end of the day, the graduate would come out very well-rounded.
  • Remuneration
  • The nature of professional services can sometimes be mundane and repetitive. The People Experience Team keeps things exciting through various programs and initiatives to address this issue.
  • Pay, although this is consistent across all firms in the industry so not a con of my firm.
