Management at Ramsay Health Care

7.5
7.5 rating for Management, based on 88 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
They are friendly but often turn a blind eye to issues on the ward and allow new staff to be bullied. Almost like an initiation process. I have done well on performance reviews but often don't know if I am doing well and definitely do not get any recognition.

Immediate manager - amazing Executive managers - somewhat distant but responsive it seems when action is needed.

Great mentors, good praise and feedback

Some are amazing some are terrible and should never be in management.

Direct line manager is fantastic, readily available when needed and is wonderful mentor to staff. Internal communication is often not communicated to staff effectively. Regular performance feedback and recognition is given

I haven't had much to do with my manager as she went on secondment the day after I began. The fill in manager is amazing and very supportive. I look forward to getting to know my NUM however the feedback i have heard from other staff is that she is a great listener but does not actively support the staff with their concerns.

My immediate manager is an amazing person, wonderful mentor and effective educator. However the management structure above them seem to actively perpetuate negativity, personal attacks, and erosion of morale. Even my immediate manager is consistently frustrated by the lack of support above them.

My manager is amazing. She is very approachable and has good internal communication skills. She does an amazing job with communication and is an amazing mentor when you work with her. She offers helpful advice and is insightful and thoughtful. Our amazing educator is so supportive, she offers amazing feedback, she seeks out feedback for me, she is extremely approachable. I feel like as a staff member I can go to her about anything or any issue and not be met with judgement. She will be honest and truthful with me. She always checks in on us and I wish she was permanent in the role. There's another good and attentive educator. She's knowledgeable and has a lot of book knowledge that she is willing to offer and share. She has been actively seeking out feedback for us and relaying it back to us. She is great with communication among managers and will communicate promptly where needed.

Generally accessible if needed but not overly approachable for things someone else could tell you. Wouldn't approach to ask a clinical question.

I have experienced the working style of two NUMs during my graduate year. The first NUM I had a lot to do with in seeking feedback and getting her assistance in resolving workplace conflict. The second NUM I have not spoken much to (or needed to) she trusts her staff to be fairly autonomous but to come to her when needed.

Both my managers in my first and second rotation have been great mentors. I have learned so much from them. In my current rotation (2 - Australia) I have regular catch ups with my manager where we can discuss anything that we need to.

Group emailing staff with patient feedback and asking for nominations for staff that have excelled each month is rewarding to see.

My managers in both rotations have been very accessible, however, because I don't work with them on a day-to-day basis, they aren't always able to provide feedback. I do have monthly catch ups with my current manager to see how I am coping with work.

Managers are very accessible and helpful when setting catch-up times to go through work

Our DCS is a very positive and approachable person. She has done very well to continue to improve the culture of the hospital. Middle management are the roadblocks to even more change.

Again I believe it chances with each ward. The ward I'm on now I appreciate and has been nothing but professional and understanding. However other wards I highly suggest should try other job opportunities. They were not engaging. I was scared to approach her due to the dismissal or swearing.
Graduate, Brisbane
No, they are not. Staff don't want to approach them due to their lack of empathy and caring. The NUM basically never leaves the office or nurses station desk. Shut her door and never comes out to help only to tell you how poorly your doing and instead of helping will degrade people. People are leaving because we feel so unsupported and have asked to be heard and nothing is done.
Graduate, Brisbane
No performance feedback unless you do something wrong, no praise or recognition
