The Schlumberger Story 

Schlumberger Limited is an oilfield services company and has four main executive offices located in Paris, Houston, London, and The Hague. It is the largest offshore drilling company in the world and also the biggest offshore drilling contractor (revenue) in the world. 

The company was founded in 1926 in Paris by two Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger as the Electric Prospecting Company. Although the company started small, it now supplies the petroleum industry with services such as well cementing & stimulation, well testing & directional drilling, formation evaluation, seismic data processing, well completions, artificial lift, flow assurance, consulting, and software and technology management.

  • The first stage of the recruitment process starts with applying. A candidate can apply for one position at a time but can reapply a few days later. 
  • The candidates are shortlisted based on their resumes and called for further process. 
  • The company has a set of skills and traits and looks for the same in each candidate. 
  • Once the application is received and progressed further, the applicant is invited to a first interview that can either be face-to-face or telephonic. 
  • Those clearing the interview, candidates are called for a second interview in an all-day assessment center which includes aptitude tests, a technical test, a presentation, and group exercises. 
  • If the position is highly technical, there will be more rounds such as numerical reasoning tests, technical tests, mechanical reasoning, abstract reasoning, verbal test, field engineer test, presentation, etc. 
  • After successfully clearing all the rounds of interviews and tests, the company will send an offer letter.
