Management at South32

8.0
8.0 rating for Management, based on 15 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
Managers should allocate more time to catch-up, more responsive to employees.
Midlevel, Perth
They make the time to check in and support you (at all levels).

Depends on line leader. Some are very good at mentoring, others not so much.

Yes the management interaction is very good, weekly/fortnightly 1 on 1 meetings as well as frequent catchups throughout the week. Dedicated to ensuring graduates have all the resources they need to maximise their learning.

Depends on individual company. For me, I am still waiting for new manager. Missed mentorship for few months. It was really helpful for our career development.

All managers I have had have been great, some colleagues managers are not as good

Most of the upper management are all really approachable. The feedback and updates around the program are quite sparse though

Amazing managers. In my opinion my MEM should have less workload to be able to give more time to graduates (if/when needed) down the graduate program.

My superintendent is excellent so can't complain there. However, upper management is pretty out of touch with how their actual workers are feeling - there is an us vs. them mentality that needs to be improved. Performance feedback is sometimes provided but praise is hard to come by - people tend to forget when people started so expectations are high.

I can speak to my manager whenever I am at work whenever I want if they are walking around but I can also book a meeting if they are available to talk to them.
