Culture at Swire Australia

6.8
6.8 rating for Culture, based on 5 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Very open culture focused on including graduates in the business and exposing them to senior management. Exact culture varies based on site/ business unit you are working in.
Midlevel, Melbourne
The culture within the office is quite good, but on site there are definitely challenges to be faced in terms of outlook, communication and morale of the workforce. It is a very flat structure, but often times each site operates at it's own level which may lead to issues for the broader business. Site teamwork is really strong, but socially there are definitely aspects missing.

I have been very fortunate to work in close-knit, high performing teams. There is a flat hierarchy in most of the divisions I have worked in, and I believe this contributes to the positive working environment. The only negative (which is not isolated to Swire, more-so the industries in which they operate) is the gender balance and the typically older workforce.

There is good cooperation across different teams, and socialisation occurs through going for office works and/or organising lunches together. The structure is quite lateral, though there are at least 3 distinct levels.
