Make sure you have fun! It’s important to develop a good work/life balance during your time at university as this will have such a positive impact on your performance throughout your career.

What does your company do and why is it employing graduate students?

TechnologyOne is Australia’s largest software as a service (SaaS) company. We are a software vendor who creates and implements Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to make life simple for customers.

We believe employing graduates is the key to finding the best talent early in their careers and to develop the future leaders of our organisation. Coming in to TechnologyOne at such an early stage means our graduates are provided with the support and opportunities to grow from day 1 and can maximise their potential.

What qualifications are required?

At TechnologyOne we recruit graduates across multiple streams within the organisation so there are opportunities for many degree disciplines. We typically look for graduates with a recent degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Business, Corporate Systems or Commerce.

What should graduates know about a career your organisation or sector before they decide to pursue one?

A key point I would like to highlight to graduates considering a career at TechnologyOne is that we provide so many opportunities as your skills develop throughout your career. Not only will there be a clear career pathway for you to progress along, but there will also be opportunities for you across the organisation within different teams. We really look after our employees and hope they can continue to work with us as their career progresses.

What sort of skills does a graduate need to succeed at your company?

Our most successful graduates are as we say ‘solution focused’, which means they have strong problem solving abilities. This is so beneficial when working with our customers to provide a solution whether you’re part of R&D, Consulting or Sales.

What do you hear the graduates say is the best thing about their work?

Our grads love the investment that we put in to them as an organisation. Whether it’s flying them in to our HQ in Brisbane for their inductions, O Week and training, or simply providing them with the resources and support to succeed with us.

Our company culture is also loved by our grads. We regularly have social events, wellness weeks, hack days and volunteering days which really creates a community feel within TechnologyOne.

What sort of training do grads receive?

We provide a range of training across all of our graduate streams including formal classroom training, online training, external workshops, on-the-job training, shadowing and mentoring.

Which three pieces of advice would you give to a current university student?

  1. Get involved with as many external or additional courses for your degree as you can. What really makes you stand out from other graduates is your hunger to upskill outside of your course.
  2. Apply for summer internships during your break. Many large organisations, including TechnologyOne, run internship programs for 3-4 weeks and this is a great opportunity to show your skills first hand to an employer.
  3. Make sure you have fun! It’s important to develop a good work/life balance during your time at university as this will have such a positive impact on your performance throughout your career.
