Here at Telstra, our purpose is to build a connected future so everyone can thrive.

The telecommunications industry is experiencing enormous growth; network traffic is
growing faster than any other period of time and digital technology is changing our world.

Our people are at the heart of this change – and as Australia’s leading telecommunications and technology company, we’re helping to make it happen by connecting people together and to their devices.

Summer Vacation Program

Our paid, 12-week Program, which starts in November this year, has been specifically designed to give you hands-on work experience as well as immersive development and learning opportunities.

It also feeds into our Telstra Graduate Program, which means if you’re one of our top performers you’ll be considered for early offers.

What you’ll be doing as a Software Engineering intern

You’ll get an insight into how our software engineers analyse, design, build, test, implement and help to maintain multiple system applications for our customers.

You may also get to see some of the innovative technology behind our iconic and diverse projects, such as Smart Home products, IoT (Internet of Things), automation, AI (Artificial Intelligence), and much more.

What skills and experiences do you need?

We’re looking for students who are studying a degree like IT (Software Engineering), Computer Science (Software Engineering), Science (Computing, Software Engineering) or Software Engineering.

You’ll also need to be a great communicator, a team contributor and someone who likes to solve complex problems.

Program eligibility

Our Summer Vacation Program is open to university students who are in the penultimate year of their studies of a minimum three-year undergraduate degree from an Australian university or those undertaking their master’s degree. So, you will need to be graduating in 2021 in order to be eligible.

International Students who have a valid visa that enables them to work in Australia without any work restrictions are eligible to apply for this pathway.

We welcome applications from Indigenous Australians, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and people living with a disability. We encourage you to talk to us about how we can support you through the recruitment process.

Applications close at 11.59PM AEST Monday 27 July 2020.
