8.30 AM

My day starts around 8.30 am at the Lendlease office in Barangaroo. I make a coffee and open my laptop.

I usually start my day by logging into Tableau Public and checking the new Vizzes uploaded by the fantastic Tableau community to get some inspiration for the day. After this, I check my emails and calendar. I then go through my sticky notes which are dotted around my laptop from the day before. The sticky notes remind me of the tasks that I need to do today. They allow me to get into the right mindset and motivate me immediately.

My client uses both Tableau and Alteryx to help them analyse their data. As such, my day consists of creating or updating dashboards and working with Alteryx workflows to get all the right data in a form ready for analysis.

I have a real passion for data. Sometimes, I explore some of the databases in Lendlease to get a better understanding of the data. Every Monday, we have a Scrum meeting at 10.00 am. I find it very useful to discuss the status of the project with the teammates and it’s fun to socialize and feel connected with them.

Lunchtime! There are lots of food options available in and near the Lendlease Barangaroo office. There is a beautiful cafeteria at the Lendlease office which serves great food. I usually bring lunch and eat with my Data School and Lendlease colleagues as it is a great way to catch up.

Back to work with a cup of tea, I start working with dashboards or workflows. Time goes quickly when I am creating new dashboards as I am so engrossed in what I am doing. I often have a meeting to attend in the afternoon. Sometimes, this is a regular catch up session, other times we discuss the difficulties of a task that we have and work together as a team to come up with a solution.

5.00 PM

As the day comes to an end, I prepare for tomorrow by writing my notes of outstanding tasks. I save all my work and check emails one last time. I say goodbye to my colleagues, have a quick chat and walk to the train station. I spend the rest of my evening with my family. While making dinner, I think about what I have been working on today and what is on tomorrow.
