Meet Sendy, Group Operations Graduate
University of Sydney
Sendy studied Commerce and Human Resources at The University of Sydney and is proud to be part of the Group Operations graduate program.
Why did you choose the Group Operations Graduate Program?
If you love fast-paced environments, change, and knowing that ultimately you are making a difference in so many ways, then you’ll love working in Group Operations! Group Operations is a really fascinating and fast-paced business. I like to think of it as the engine of the bank – we are the ones that make the magic happen.
And why did you apply to work as a graduate at Westpac Group?
I applied for Westpac Group because of the commitment to its people. I wanted to work for a company that had a focus on employee growth and development and a wealth of opportunities for every individual: I’ve definitely found this to be true on my career journey so far.
What else can a graduate get involved in, outside of the program rotations?
Outside of my day job, I was fortunate enough to support the Graduate Community Consulting Committee Group. I worked alongside a small team of very dedicated grads, and together we committed to helping Australian charities and causes throughout the year. We managed to do some great things, including a national OzHarvest and clothing appeal, organised blood donations, participated in food van volunteering and fundraised through multiple channels for Youth Off the Streets, our nominated charity. It is such a fulfilling way of giving back, to both Westpac and Australian communities, and to also engage other grads and stakeholders to make a real difference.
